Holiday Activities for Bored Teens

Hiya Guys,

I've only been off school for a week and I already feel the boredom soaring to new heights. This year, the free time has definitely been hard for me because I have had so much of it.

So as I know that the Summer holidays are coming up, so to help you not be as bored as I am, I'm going to put up a few ideas that can range from costing a small fee to being completely free (excluding very cheap basics that can be picked up). I don't want to alienate people from these ideas so I'll try to keep them as accessible as possible because having fun doesn't mean spending loads.

  • This is the only option that may be expensive. UK theme park Thorpe Park have an event called Island Beats this Summer where artists perform concerts on different days. There are two options with this: one concert at 1pm in the afternoon with artists and the price of this is included in the park ticket. The second option is paying a bit extra for an evening concert (these include bigger names). I will link at the end to view details. (I'm hoping to go on the 29/8)

Now for the things that really don't cost anything at all:
  • As a writer I'm obviously going to encourage you to write something. I know most of you won't be aspiring novelists but it could be anything like songs, poems or even a daily diary to document what happens to you every day.
  • Learn a new language. I know it sounds boring but I know that learning at home because you want to is fun compared to being forced to at school. The site Babbel lets you learn a language for free from your own house
  • Make a scrapbook! You don't even need lots of material, just photos, paper and pens and you're ready. Have different pages with different themes and make each page about something different in your life like important events or people.
  • Go outside for a walk! Explore where you live because I know that there are so many things to do in Manchester and places to visit that I haven't even heard of. It'll give you some fresh air and count towards that exercise we all hate doing.
  • Do some arts and crafts. This has come from watching my sister take a piece of paper and make an absolutely amazing pop up flower. You can basically just let your imagination go crazy and come up with anything even if you don't think your artistic. One person's rubbish may be another's masterpiece

So that's just a starting point because the possibilities are endless to what you can do this summer! I hope it helps a little bit.

That's all for now my dears,
See you soon

xx

Lawson - Perspective Track by Track Album Review

Hiya Guys, You may be shocked to hear that this post brings back Music Friday **except it's on a Tuesday *so it's Tune Tuesday* bc why not** In 2012, 4 piece band Lawson released their debut album Chapman Squar e which peaked at number 4 in the UK album charts with emotional and heart wrenching tracks like Stolen and The Girl I Knew.  Fast forward 4 years, of which included Andy having a near death experience and months of writing, the long awaited second album  Perspective has finally been released. This is an absolutely amazing album filled with love, passion, some brilliant chord progressions, amazing vocals and some awesome guitar solos! So here is my track by track review of the album and please bare with me and read to the end *it is worth it*: Perspective (Intro) This track is a great way to start the new album and real...

My Dissertation Story

Hi my lil' fairies Hasn't it been a long time since I've spoken to you lovely people? Well my title can probably tell you why. I am in my third year of university and the last few months have consisted of research and writing my dissertation. However, after a solid 7 months, I finally handed my dissertation in on Monday and I can't tell you how much of a weight has been lifted off me. It's almost like this 10, 966 words (I know, I cut it very finely on the word count) have become part of me, mainly because I have invested so much time and effort into it. Before I even started to stress about writing it, I had to come up with an idea for it. I chose my overall topic the year before and this meant that I had to pick within the topic, but it didn't mean restrictions - it was the opposite for me. I picked the cultural revolution in Germany and Britain and this gave me endless possibilities. Initially, I chose to do Britain because I thought that my lack of Ger...

My Comprehensive not so Comprehensive Guide to Packing for University

Hiya Guys, I've been writing and re-writing different posts on university and after writing things seriously, I've decided to be less serious and write how I have managed to avoid failing at preparing for university. Here is my guide on how to pack, it isn't amazing but I haven't gone mad yet: 1. Make lists, almost like an inventory of things to pack Now I do think that this is partly because I like to procrastinate and I love the look and feeling of actually writing things. I am on list number 5 at the moment and it really helps in terms of figuring out what needs to be packed and when you need to pack things up, you can make sure that you don't forget anything. Make sure that you have one listing what you've packed as things go in the suitcase and, to avoid wasting time, put in things that you definitely know need to be packed the day before (this can be thing like hairdryer and hair straighteners). 2. Don't pack too much but don't pac...
